NEW! LEARN FOREIGN LANGUAGES USING MAKEBELIEFS COMIX
A Sampler of Eight Tools Which You Can Use to Practice Language
Dear reader,
The comic resources found throughout our web site can be valuable for your efforts to teach foreign languages.
This page provides a sampler of some of the resources found on MakeBeliefsComix which you can explore for your Foreign Language initiatives.
1. CREATE COMIC STRIP STORIES TO PRACTICE NEW FOREIGN LANGUAGES:
On our Create Comix Page! use the templates there to create comic strips in which you use the vocabulary for the foreign language you are learning in class. GET STARTED »
Filling in the talk and thought balloons provides a fun, painless way of reinforcing new vocabulary words and grammar, and it is easy to fill in the talk and thought balloons with text. For ideas for creating comix, go to our Comic Starters page or to our Story Ideas page
2.TRY OUR ‘GIVE ME WORDS’ feature:
All you need to do is use the new words and phrases you are learning with the many talking heads shown and give them a voice to converse or sing to one another, and even to tell jokes and riddles in the new language. MakeBeliefsComix also allows you to type your dialogue in different languages. TRY OUR GIVE ME WORDS FEATURE NOW »
Use the talking heads, too, to practice writing dialogue which you can use for your stories or plays or for having real life conversations with other foreign language speakers. As an example you can practice for an interview by having one character ask you questions about yourself and have another character representing you give an answer. Or, use a talking head to practice the types of questions you might ask in finding your way in a new country, or talking with the doctor on your next visit or going shopping or eating in a restaurant. This helps prepare you so you don’t get flustered in real life situations.
3.TRY OUR FOREIGN LANGUAGE LESSON PLANS ON OUR LESSON PLANS PAGE.
TRY OUR LESSON PLANS NOW » Or, go to our Ideas Exchange page to see how one teacher is using MakeBeliefsComix to teach English as a foreign language. Her ideas are under the headline: Teaching English
4.OUR FREE JOURNALING E-BOOKS REINFORCE LANGUAGE LEARNING:
The books shown here are but a few of the many interactive books with writing prompts to help students express their ideas and thoughts in the new language they are acquiring; the prompts will stimulate students to write and speak in the language of their choice: View our e-books ». Our ‘Something to Write About…’ book has been successfully used with English as Second Language students. Just click on the books’ covers to download, or CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD "Something to Write About", and students can write directly from their digital devices onto the pages of the books. For additional writing ideas, try our writing prompts blog, Somethingtowriteabout.com.

These printables, each with a provocative or playful writing prompt and illustration, can be used by students to improve their writing skills in their new language. They will make your smile. GET STARTED WITH PRINTABLES HERE »
6.KEEP A COMIX DIARY:
As students become more confident and proficient in working with a new language, encourage them to keep a daily comix diary about their lives written in the language they are learning -- the more they write, the better they become.
