MAKEBELIEFSCOMIX COMIC STARTERS FOR ESOL - USE THE TEMPLATES ON THIS PAGE TO GET YOU STARTED IN MAKING YOUR OWN COMICS

To share and display your creations in our Comix Gallery, send them to billz@makebeliefscomix.com, along with a note giving us permission. Also, build your own Comic Art Portfolio by saving your comic strips online with us (click on SIGN IN TO SAVE ONLINE button on Create Comix! page), or by printing or emailing your comix to yourself to include in your own personal portfolio. You'll take pride in what you will have accomplished at the end of the school term!

The comic templates on this page can be a useful resource as you introduce your students to MakeBeliefsComix.com. They are intended to get your ESOL students started in making their own comic strips. The questions posed in the first panel of each should help stimulate a student's thinking about ideas which she may want to express in building comic strip stories. You can have your students print out any template shown here and then fill in by hand the second blank panel with their written responses. Or, better yet, have your students use MakeBeliefsComix.com to create a comic strip in which they replicate your first panel with the question prompt. Next, ask each student to choose a comic character to represent her- or himself, then place that character in the second panel and type words into a talk or thought balloon with the character's response to the original question prompt.

You can also use the comic modules as conversation starters for ESOL lessons; just print them out and distribute among two-person teams with each member questioning one another for their responses. Not only will your students be practicing their new language, but they will be learning a lot about each other. This will help them build stronger personal bonds with each other and make for a close class community. By all means create your own comic strip starters, too, on subjects that are important to you.MakeBeliefsComix for ESL
